Dash Swap — Any “Must Do” Items??

Swapping out the cracked dash and tired cockpit on my 1978 Delta 88.

Steering column and dash are already out.

I have very nice uncracked dash pad and cockpit parts ready to go in.

Before I install the parts are there any “Must Do” or “Probably Should Do” items?

For example, when I swapped out the dash on my 1989 Mercedes SEC I replaced all the A/C pods.

I’m attending to a couple of surface rust spots but not planning on anything else … unless there are Must Do / Should Do items that I’m not aware of …

I look forward to your replies. Thanks

Clean grounds. Maybe replace all the 40 plus year old light bulbs. You know the ones that will blow a week after you put everything back together.

Check the steering column turn cam or replace it. Grease the column bearings. Maybe paint the column if it’s not in good shape.
Bulbs for sure. Check/ replace front speakers if you use them if they are in the dash,
a few thoughts while you are in the neighborhood.

Don't over tighten the fasteners that hold the plastic tabs.
