Cheap Sunvisor Fix
I was having trouble with my sun visors staying up, both have mirrors so they are heavy & the rubber tips were dry rotted. I know they do make the new rubber tips but I thought there might be another method. I was in the hardware store & saw a package of assorted rubber tips for the spring type home door-stops for $1.00. I took out the 2 smallest ones, they were a bit big in diameter, inside & outside. Well, I had a piece of small tubing that is used for intravenous injections. This small tubing fit on the visor end perfect & inside the door-stop tip perfectly. Now I had to make the tip fit into the bracket, so I trimmed it smaller on the outside with a utility knife, then sanded it with 100 grit wrapped on a paint stick to get rid of the knife marks, make it round and just rough enough for friction to hold the viors in place. I now have sunvisors that stay put going over bumps. My visors & headliner are white & so are the door stop rubbers, a magic marker could be used to change the color if needed.
I like to pass along fixes that I come up with and hope someone else can benifit.
