Bucket seats over carpet

Installing new carpet, wondering if the bucket seat frames are set on the carpet or is the carpet trimmed around the seat frames.

From the factory the carpet was trimmed to fit around the seat tracks.

Make a “T” cut. Make sure you have pushed the front carpet as far forward or the top of the T pulls forward a bit. Don’t ask me how I know this.

I have done two carpets install and like TOM442 I do the same. I have been in many junk yards in 50 + years and they cut the carpet in front. I always paint the frame pads black so not to show.

Definitely worth the time to install the carpet over the mounting bolts. Great pics of a great job Tom442!

I have always cut a 3 sided square or rectangle in those areas so there is an attached flap instead of a full hole cut out. I think that is what Tom's photos show as well. The flap then leans against the seat frame and partially covers it.

I think I know what is being suggested but a sketch or drawing might help for bucket or bench seats.
Thanks

Something like this?

I took good photos when I took my original carpet out of my 66 and made those diagrams.
I've used them for several cars since them. Always look great.

I'm installing ACC carpet. What did you use for carpet underlayment, sound deadener, heat absorption?

I used dynomat on the metal, dynaliner on top of the dynomat and then the carpet with its insulation. had to trim a few spots of the dynaliner at the tunnel and accelerator and under the console. I don't think you can insulate too much.
