On the current project I need to repair two headrests and the center armrest. The parts aren't terrible other than a cat had gotten in and clawed the pieces up a bit.

I'm researching home repair methods that people have used. I don't need one with the correct color because I'm getting a quart of dye for some other parts anyway. They really don't need to be recovered since the scratches aren't all the way through.

Anybody have any experiences to share? What did you use and where did you get it?

I remember those repair kits from Ronco, or other TV infomercials... They used some sort of heat activated chemical to bond it all together.

Try your local furniture stores to see if they have something. Upholstery shops could give you other leads and i am sure a google search will pull up all sorts of repair kits online...

I've had it done successfully by someone who knows what he's doing. I've never had much luck with the kits. Ask your local upholstery shop. Mine got me in touch with a guy who came out in a truck and mixed it and applied it. I think he also did custom interiors [like having your name in the head rest with the same materials.]

 

I'm sure he did... this was under the P.O.'s "care"
