69-70 Toro vents behind back window

Seems like I've seen some 69-70 Toronado's with vents behind the back window, and some others with just a flat panel there. Was this part of some kind of option pkg? I know that the 66-67's all had the vents, but what about the later ones?

do you mean the flat plastic shelf behind the back seat ? if so my 68 Toro i use to own had a vent back there , and on the underside of it was a small blower motor that a wire goes to....i presume it was for defrosting the back window ?

If you're talking about the filler piece between the back glass and decklid, they all had vent grilles. The difference is the ones for vinyl roof cars had grain embossed into the metal. Non-vinyl roof cars were smooth.

They were part of the interior ventilation package. Don't make the mistake I did and cover the slots at the bottom of the back glass inside the car with sound deadener. Had to take the back half of the interior out (again) and open up that area to be able to shut the doors with the windows up.

Yes, I am talking about the piece betw. the back window and trunk lid. My 70 has a vinyl roof and the filler piece is vent-less, just covered w/ vinyl. Should it have the vents? It looks like this one I found on the web (wish mine was this nice, but that is a different story):

Rocketraider, when you mention the interior ventilation package, was that an option, i.e. the ones without it had a smooth piece there w/ no vents?

I noticed from looking at pic's on the web that many 69's seem to have the vents, but I have not seen too many 70's w/ them, were they discontinued for 1970?

I don't think 70's had them at all. I know mine didn't.
