70 Toronado seats vs. cutlass

Will the repro seat covers they sell for a 70-72 Cutlass bench seat work on a 70 Toronado? I realize that the rear might have to be changed bec. of the center speaker, but what about the rest of the seat covers? I noticed that the 72 Cut. Supreme seat covers look just like the ones in my 70 Toro (strange, huh)

Not sure about the rear, b/c Toro and Cutlass do share more parts than is convenient for us Toro owners, but Toronado mostly uses Strato-Bench front seat which was not offered in the A car.

Isn't the Strato Bench just a one-piece bottom with the bucket seat backs? Unfortunately, you'd have to work with an upholstery vendor to buy only the parts you needed. It's not likely to be cost effective to buy a bucket seat cover set just to get the backs and a bench seat set just to get the bottom. I'm also doubtful that the Strato Bench bottom is the same as on a normal bench seat.

This thread has a picture of a Stratobench seat. Joe, your right. The seatbacks are like the buckets with a bench and arm rest.

sgtoro, what's your location? There's a 1970 Toronado for sale in the next town with the seats recovered. I think the asking price is a little high, but if you were close enough to check it out and make an offer it might have more parts you could use. I looked at it and noticed a rear window defogger in the glass and front disc brakes, both scarce options. John

I'm in NJ, a little ways from there, lol. Is the bottom part of the seats the same as the A-body, size-wise?

Nope. Sorry, but the Toronado bench seat is much wider than the Cutlass.
