1972 Cutlass bucket seat covers....are they side specific?

Just curious....On a 1972 Cutlass with bucket seat covers....are they side specific? When I get my new ones from Legendary are they marked RT side and LT side?

The back covers are not side specific

The seat frames themselves are not side-specific. The only thing that IS side-specific are the 1976-68 seat-back covers with the side release button.

On the 1972's wouldn't the bottom frames be side specific since the handle to move the seat is on each side by the doors. It you switched them the handles would both be next to the console??

But it almost sounds like the covers could be installed on either the LT or RT bucket seat??

The tracks are not part of the seat frame. The bolt pattern for the tracks is the same.

How many times in this thread do we have to say that both sides are the same? The entire seat and every component in it is the same. The seat tracks, which are NOT part of the seat, are the only things that are side-specific.

Well Joe, the above post makes it clear BUT, post #3 in this thread kind of says that but not distinct enough for me to catch. With your newest post it is very clear. I guess I don't have the mind of an engineer or am not a person who has been doing Oldsmobiles most of my life. If post #7 had been post #2, we could have eliminated at lot of the back n forth IMO!

Thanks, OLE442
