1968 Hurst Prototype
1968 Hurst Prototype
After three years since I last posted about this subject I found a perfect donor car. 1968 Cutlass S post car with 50,000 on it. Very soild car. I have four pictures of what the car look like, but I'm always looking for more. The information I do have on the car is: Black/gold, hidden headlights, hurst wheels, a brake adjusted rear wing, 455 motor and it was a post car.
I'm looking for any information, people or Oldsmobile personal I can contact. I was told that a gentleman down in Iowa has done this already. If anybody knows who it is please let me know. i like to get this project going!
Thanks so much

1968 H/O Prototype. A couple of thing to notice. The car has repositioned headlights and turn signals with hideaway headlights. It has the ram air induction scoops, but no red fender wells like the W-30s (and production models) did. Also notice the Hurst (not Olds) wheels and lack of emblems or logos.

1968 H/O Prototype. In this shot, the headlight doors are closed.

1968 H/O Prototype. Pop-up rear deck wing deployed. It is my understanding that this was supposed to be activated by stepping on the brakes!

1968 H/O Prototype in the garage (I believe that's Doc Watson with the car).

Agreed. Also not very creative in their paint scheme either. Can't say I'm a fan of the pop up deck wing. Why would it be set to deploy when you step on the brakes? It should be more effective to deploy when you mat the throttle...vacuum operated?
