That car has been out there a while... engine does not match so 400k is way out there

 

WTH they didn't even bother to round up an intake with the PCV nipple?

Or, was the *prototype* excluded from that need?

$400k and "The only gauge that doesn’t work is the gas gauge" ??

There is ONE DAMN WIRE thru a sender to ground. Finicky pins on the gage pod... maybe a fuse. Fix it.

 

Does it have ANY of the prototype parts? The hood scoops, the wing?
Without that it's a non-numbers matching Hurst Olds with a cool title history.

I dunno . . . I think the #match thing is a non-issue if the car is extra-special. Not sure why so much attention is placed on this?

 

Correct me if I'm wrong but this car is not even a H/O. It was made before the run of 906. It may be the styling design forerunner to the 69 H/O and thats it! Without the unique pieces it's just a 69 a body with H/O parts on it.

 

Cool car, great history but way overpriced in my opinion. Its the numbers match thing that drives the price way up. His description is interesting read but touting the Linda V car, that was Barrett Jackson charity drive. Nobody was looking to own that car just be the top dog with their donation.

They could at least fix the gas gauge. I will do it for them for the reasonable charge of 20,000 dollars US.

 

The car originally had a 500+ cid engine in it. I've spoken to him earlier in the year. Car is a prototype but with it missing that engine and maybe a special trans it's going to be a hard sell at that price.

Last time it was up for sale for 800K.

Car was built in early Oct. of 68 for 69.

What should I ask for the car I have Morgan? lol

 

It is stunning! Love the modern underdash radio, hacked wires under the hood, plastic PCV valve, wrong master, and late model plug wires. Clearly something is going on with the carb, it looks like it has a spacer, has a mickey mouse spring and doubtful it's a Qjet. But...hey...it's a prototype, and one of one. The only one made with a gas gauge that doesn't work. It's not worth a penny over $399,999.99 !!! What a great investment opportunity for somebody.

This was the point I was trying to make just because a car sells for 800,000 does not make the item a wise use of money.

I'm not into my car because of status or because it will gain value.
Most of the cars that people think are so valuable today will be worth cent's on the dollar the height of the market has past and the age out is in full swing.
Look at the so called rare Oldsmobile cars that have sold lately the original 70 W30 the 67 W30.

There was a white W32 that just sold for 30,000 that was fully restored.
These so called rare cars are selling for less than the cost of a restoration
and the age out has just started.
