89 Toronado BCM BD90 / BD 91 codes

Hello folks,
it's been a while. How is everybody?
My 1989 Toronado turned 30 in August this year, I had it inspected for vintage plates = cheaper insurance. Everything went well.
The engine performance is not as smooth as it should be. I know bcs I drove another one of these in the Tri State area for about 160000 mls.
I replaced lots of critical components so far. It does not throw any codes, but sometimes it runs rough with less power.
The manual referres to BD90 and BD91 codes / which numbers should match those numbers shown in the book - programmed equally to how the car is equipped (ABS, A/C,) otherwise it could "cause many errors" (no clue or hint which errors this could be). So I checked the equipment no. sticker underneath the carpet in the trunk and compared with what's
a) in the book and b) my Toro's equipment.
My Toro has steering wheel controls, but the referring build code (s.th. starting with U...) is not to be found on the sticker!
Bummer!
Seems some former owner in Switzerland switched the steering wheel.
Now what?
Should I re- program the BD90 I believe it is to the approriate sum including steering wheel controls?
I guess it might not be a big deal to do so, and go back to the "old" number if the car starts behaving strange.
Still I thought I should ask -
any help / hints would be appreciated.

Michael, I've never heard of the GM B90/B91 codes before. Apparently, you're on to something though. I found this with a quick Google search:

Instead of attempting to reprogram your ECM I would suggest finding a replacement steering wheel to match the factory programming. In fact, it might be expensive or difficult to reprogram the GM type I ECM in your car. I know the first generation OBD 2 ECM in my 96 Regency Elite isn't easily reporgrammed.

Jesse,
thank you for your reply. I could not use the link you provided. I get an error message:
"The Amazon CloudFront distribution is configured to block access from your country."
Free Internet - you know? Haha....
If you can - pls. copy and paste the info which might be helpful to solve my problem here in this thread.
Meanwhile I am certain that somebody replaced the dashboard on my car. Hints are pulled and badly re-arranged A-pillar cover interieur drivers side, slight color mismatch of the dashboard compared to the doorpanels.
And with this change there might have been the desire to "upgrade" to that awesome steering wheel featuring those control buttons.
I will not buy a standard steering wheel. I love my steering wheel controls. I used to have them on my former '89 Toro as well.
But I will follow the instructions in the book to re-program the system to the correct values incl. this steering wheel option. All I need to remember to write down the existing value, so I can always undo the mess I created
Cheers
Mike
PS: oh, of course I will keep you posted what happened

Mike, can you access this .pdf? That's a bummer that the firewalls in your country prevent you from going to the website I linked. Definitely not an offensive or objectionable website in anyway.

Can you post a pic of the steering wheel in your Olds?
