Ram air hood brackets on a 69

Putting a 70 ram air hood on my 69 442. What modifications are needed to install the hood lock brackets on the core support. I’m talking about the twist pins receiver. I have the brackets but don’t see how they mount. Can find any detailed pics, and don’t have a 70 assembly manual since mine is a 69. Any help is appreciated.

You must run a 70 core support for the hood to lock right on the safety hook. The hood pins are only for looks.

Now that OAI hoods are on every 70-72, they will now be on every 69.

They just look cool. Everyone likes the look of a OAI hood ! I think I will put one on my 70 supreme. Now how do I get one on my 64 Vista Cruiser ?

Was going to modify an extra 69 support that I have. Put the 70 latch in it, but still don’t know about the pins.

Hi Kevin
There's a depression where the center bolt of the hood hold down brackets goes. Then you may have to drill the other two holes, but this one center hole should get you located. Attached are pictures of the bracket mounted on a 1970, then a 1971 core support without the bracket but showing the depression.

Let me know if you'd like to see any other views or measurements.

Thanks John finally an answer that helps, I thought I was on Facebook there for a minute. I don’t think the 69 has that depression but it gives me an idea what I’m working with. That’s the kind of detailed pictures I was looking for.

Hi Kevin
If you want to modify the hood latch and keep your 1969 core support I think it does have the depression. Here's pictures of a 1969 core support and I believe this is the same location as the 1970 depression. John

Yeah I guess it does, I had to go out and look at it. Thanks

I installed a Thornton OAI hood on my 1969. Those depressions in the 69 support lined up the hood pins perfectly.

To the OP, I'd suggest you call Thornton's and get their input.
