Check Engine Light
Check Engine Light
After I replaced my valve cover gaskets, my check engine light came on. So I tried to jump the obd thing with a paper clip (which worked before the gasket job) and now when I do, it doesn't even flash to say it's working. It just stays solid. And I tried removing the battery for 5 minutes to see if the light would cut off and come back on but nope. It just stayed solid. What could be the problem? Sorry about the length of this! Thanks
It could be a number of things you'll need to pull the code or codes that will ballpark the problem.
It could be just a Mass Air Flow Sensor but who knows at this point, How is it running? Has your fuel mileage changed lately? Are all the vacuum lines put back in place properly with no leaks?

if it really is a 1985 D88 with a 307, there might not be many mass air sensors under the hood other than the carb (thats kind of a joke)
even if you unplugged EVERYTHING you should be able to pull codes and just get a couple out of range conditions because cold, some of the stuff is ignored until closed loop.
Key off, jump A/B
key on engine off count flashes to an assistant. It will show 1-2, 3 times starting, then 3 times ending.
please post a clear pic of the VECI and I think I have the C3 wiring diagram laying around somewhere, spaghetti mess to go thru, but not rocket science (thats kind of a pun)
