Water Pump Tower Hose Clamp

This is for a 1972 Olds 350. I got a set of tower style hose clamps from Fusicks. The one for the water pump intake is 2 1/4". As you can in the photo, there is no way this clamp will go over the hump. I even tried putting the clamp on the pump and pushed the hose on and still cant get it to go on the hose. I see OPGI sells one that is 2 5/16". Doesnt seem like a 1/16" would be enough but maybe it would. Question is what size should that clamp be and where is the best place to get one?

Another question is the arrow is pointing to an foam sleeve that is around the heater hose coming off the pump. Is it supposed to be near the connection like the photo or somewhere else along the hose?

The foam sleeve is to protect the hose where it runs over the edge of the alternator bracket.

I think the original part number was 9436038 which was superseded to a 1470030 which is a worm gear type clamp. I searched on the 9436038 but didnt come up with much. I guess you are looking for originality for judging ? Maybe they would accept the 1470030 since GM superseded it to that number ?

I might be able to come up with a decent used one if that will help ?

How big is the original one? I ordered a 2 5/16 to see if it will slide over.

I have an original 2 - 5/16" tower hose clamp here and it will slip on (barely) over the large end of a '70 lower water pump hose (NOTE: this is for the 1970 HD Water Pump Casting # 404847 - it has a LARGE inlet) with the hose not stretched onto the water pump.

With the hose slipped onto the water pump inlet the hose gets stretched slightly and the OD gets larger. Doesn't seem like I can get the clamp over the in-place/stretched hose end. I think I have this 2-5/16" clamp opened up about as far as it will go.

Who knows?....maybe a new/repro 2-5/16" clamp can be opened up a bit more. Will be interesting to see what you find w/the new clamp. I don't know what car I got this clamp off of.....probably at a salvage yard many years ago.
