TH400 dust shield,...which is correct???

This question may have been discussed before, but I am wondering when GM switched from steel converter dust shields to plastic.. Can any of the resident experts give their insight on this? Thanks so much!

Pretty sure '69 was metal, '70 was plastic.

Heath, at least in Lansing as of mid January 70 they had converted to the plastic.

Steel ones are hard to find.

The reason I am asking is that my September 1969 Lansing built wagon appears to have come with a plastic cover. But a few years ago I had purchased a running driving rusted out '70 98 for a spare 455 and one of the things that I had gotten from it was a metal dust shield. Trying to get a handle on what belongs where... Thanks for the replies
