I'm well into a 455 build which will go into my '72
cutlass to replace the 350.
Also, I have a rebuilt TH400 to replace the TH350.
I am short a dust cover.
I'm guessing the real deal would fit up better than the universal type.
Anybody have one?

Metal or plastic?

 

I'm tempted to answer metal, but I honestly want something that would bolt on
without lots of mods and look crappy to boot.
Plastic could be ok I guess.

Wrecking yards are your best choice.

 

Not too many junkyards in my neck of the woods.
Thought perhaps a member would have one out in the barn.

 

IIRC 1967-1969 is metal. 1970 & later is plastic.

The Summit Racing TH400 plastic one looks pretty good.
I kinda dismissed "universal" types cause I thought the fit would be
a real hack job compared to the real thing.

No, not yet.
I'm still at least 6 weeks from actually needing it.
Just got my short block finished. Waitin for heads to be done at the shop.
I'm thinkin the motor will be all together end of Feb.
Sometime in the 2nd half of march, I'll be doing the swap out of the 350.
It's kinda cold up here in CT.

I have a metal one here. They need big boxes though, which is the downfall. Shipping is usually more than the part itself.
