temp guage not working
#4
That's the point here. Don't give us partial information. Give us the full story, not bits and pieces that we have to drag out of you. TELL US what you've already tried so we don't waste time suggesting things you've already done. Otherwise, you're just wasting everyone's time.
What kind of a car is this? Are you sure you're getting the correct sending unit? If it's a temperature gauge with a needle that moves as the temperature increases, that'll have a different sending unit than if it's just an on/off HOT light.
The fact that the gauge moves when you ground the wire at least indicates that the gauge itself apparently works and that the wiring between the sending unit and the gauge is intact. So this leads back to the sending unit as the problem.
Did the gauge work yesterday and suddenly stop working today? Or has it not worked for a long time and you're now trying to get it back to working condition?
