Uh, there are a lot of "metal hoses" (also called tubes) in the engine compartment. Perhaps you can provide a photo that will let us provide a useful answer.

Your "image" file is apparently a link to the Robert Powers Motorsports website. Again, can you post a photo of YOUR car and the specific tubes you are referring to.

Kinda hard to help then, based on the limited info. Are you talking about the fuel lines on the passenger side frame rail, or something else?

The line that goes under the engine ...motor mount side to motor mount side is your brake line.

Model and year of car????

If it is the brake lines he's talking about, this is the time to replace them while it's convenient. Nothing worse than pouring in brake fluid and watching it leak all over the frame and floor.....

Some hints that might help:
Location
exact sizes
what they ARE connected to

Maybe get into a position where you can share an actual photo, what with them trading at 1000 words and all.

Steel line in engine compartment:

1. Brake lines
2. Auto Trans Lines
3. AC lines
4. Fuel Lines

It's one of those...

Then those are probably old lines that were left in place when replacements were run parallel. Go under and look at where they lead to.

Except that the trans lines are the same size and the O.P. said this in his original post:

That leads me to say fuel line and vapor or return line.

Meh .. that hasn't stopped the rest of us speculating. So long as it's not a water buffalo, I think we're good.
