Headliner Color, '64 Cutlass/442
Headliner Color, '64 Cutlass/442
A friend of mine is restoring a 1964 442.
The previous owner completely gutted the interior, including the headliner, and had a discount upholstery shop replace everything with incorrect components.
My friend wants to have the interior re-restored as original, with black seats, carpeting, and door panels.
His question:
Did the Cutlass/442 models have a white headliner only, or could the headliner be black with a black interior?
Thanks.

I'm not sure on 64s, but later years had two relevant schemes (among many).
1. Black everywhere. Seats, door cards, sail panels, dash pad, carpet, headliner, package tray.
2. Champagne or parchment and black. Seats, sail panels, headliner were the light color. Carpet, dash pad, package tray were black. The door cards were light color on the top 80% and the bottom 20% was black.
So, if he has an all black interior, a black headliner is correct.
