GM steering column compatibility questions??

About 10 years ago I modified a delay wiper motor from a 90s Buick century to fit my 69 Olds. It has worked flawlessly (with the exception of the washers, which I will discuss in another thread). I got a bunch of Brocken steering columns from theft recovery vehicles to use as parts. I needed to build a column with no shift lever, and included tilt, delay wiper on the column, and cruise lever for the aftermarket cruise I installed at the same time.

All worked well, except the ignition lock cylinder will not rotate to the accessory position. It isn’t a issue of ignition SWITCH adjustment, even with the switch removed it will not rotate to the accessory position.

My question, does anyone in readerland know if there are different design sector gears or racks? Anyone know what I should look for when I tear this apart? I’m using the original lock cylinder from my car, if I remember correctly, I had to slightly modify the upper housing. My lock cylinder was retained by a bolt, the later housing used a lock tab that needed to be depressed to remove the cylinder. I solved that problem pretty easily, I had to drill a hole in the housing for the retaining bolt. Other than that, it was a very easy conversion. The wiring and adapter for the wiper motor was by far the biggest hassle.

I have lived with this minor hangup for several years, so it hasn’t been a major inconvenience. However, I’d like to resolve it if possible. I’m hoping someone out there is much more familiar than I am with all the little design changes. Thanks!!!!
