Steering column lock

Hi, I’m looking for an earlier style steering column ignition lock for purchase. My lock which is pictured no longer springs back after turning the car on. I know I can buy the replacement version but I figured I would give this a shot to see if someone has one. Have a great Thanksgiving all.

You need to check the rod from the lock to ignition switch that is where the return action comes from, Possible drag on the shift collar.

Hope this helps.

That ignition cylinder is unique to 69-70, you don't want to just toss it. Like Johnny said, it could be binding, or the spring in the ig switch could be NG, or not adjusted right. Did you take that cylinder out? does it go into all positions, like accessory? If you removed the cylinder there is a gear and "rack" that may not have been reassembled right.

I had the ignition lock in my original non-tilt column and tried to take it out to swap into a tilt column but the front face of the cylinder came off... I did not know about the causes as I read that it was internal on another post or two. I will need to check my tilt column to make sure all is good before placing a new cylinder in.

Thank you Johnny and mrolds69 for your knowledge about this part and my problem. I checked my tilt column and everything seems to be set for a new ignition lock.

I was able to secure my ignition lock from Paladin31.
