My 68 Cutlass S has all silver "S" emblems. I have seen others with the all silver emblems but most have the red inlay, All of the reproductions that I see are the red ones. If both are correct, what determined which ones went on which cars?

 

They all had the red inlay when new. The red paint had faded away probably sometime during the Carter administration.
