s withI have two 1964 Cutlass convertbles. One is a parts car and one is being restored. Both cars are Lansing built cars. Both cars had the side trim removed from the quarters and doors when I got the cars. The parts car has the white plastic trim clips for both the doors and the quarters that push into holes in the sheet metal and were bagged and labeled when I got the car. The resto car has the same clips for the doors but has weld studs along the quarters. I have no idea what type of clip to use to attach the trim. I have the 1964 PIM and assembly manual but haven't been able to find anything relating to quarter trim attachment. Does anyone know what the correct trim clip would be for the quarters with the weld studs ? Does anyone know why they would use different attachment methods ?
The holes are potential leak points for water. The weld studs prevent that. Most 1965-later cars use the studs for this reason. The plastic clips look like this. Slide the keyhole over the stud to lock the clips into place then snap the trim over them.
