1959 oldsmobile factory a/c compressor color
What color is the 1959 oldsmobile a/c paint color? Mine is grey but there seems to be some that are black. Does that have to do with factory replacement of compressor? Also is there a paint code for the grey compressor? Thanks. Ron

Follow up
Hi,
I wanted follow up on the grey painted compressors.
I agree that all compressors from the factory were painted black. But when the compressors were replaced, they were painted grey by gm. Seems that this proved to customers that the compressor really was replaced. In the olden days, gm did all of the a/c compressor rebuilding and rebuilts were black. Thus gray to prove new not rebuilt based on cost. I have several examples of a5 and a6 being gray.
But the only question i really have is there a paint code for the gray? I will contact some engine paint dealers to see what they know and offer. Any suggestions on how to get a color match as the compressor exterior is not pristine? Or how i could remove the decal without destroying the paint underneath it?
Thanks
Ron
