Help - Transmission Color

I am having someone take the engine and transmission out of the car to replace all the seals. He is painting the engine and transmission before he puts them back in. He wants to know what color I wanted the transmission painted. He thinks the OEM color was the same as the engine, but said he couldn't remember that far back. Were they even painted? If it needs to be painted, what was the factory color for them?

So, silvery aluminum color if you really need to cover up some ugliness.

Bare aluminum is correct, but, after cleaning up the housing,
mine still looked pretty scroungy from years of oil and other unknown stains.
I finally media blasted it and painted it with Dupli-Color #DE-1615 Hi-Temp aluminum engine paint from NAPA.
I also did the intake in the pic. The x-mission and intake both look like new.
(I know the valve cover is on the wrong side. old pic. It's not now. )

Don't let them paint the pan black. That's a favorite among transmission rebuilders. The pan should not have any paint on it, either.
