My experience tells me it would cost about $400 to have a qjet-knowledgeable person to rebuild your carburetor.

if its clean inside and the gasket on top plate and accelerator pump seal is still good and pliable it may not need anything but a re-calibration depending on your cars set up and intended use. Factory metering rod jet combos can be pretty lean designed for heated and restrictive air intake on a hot 195-200 degree running engine. primary jet 71-72 primary rod 42-44 would work good with open element air cleaner and 160-180 T stat

X2, that's how much I was charged. The rebuilder calibrated my carb that matches the cam that I have in my car.

Buy a decent core (so you don't mess up your carburetor) and this book:

How to Rebuild & Modify Rochester Quadrajet Carburetors (S-a Design): Cliff Ruggles: 9781932494181: Amazon.com: Books How to Rebuild & Modify Rochester Quadrajet Carburetors (S-a Design): Cliff Ruggles: 9781932494181: Amazon.com: Books

I avoided quadrajets for a long time and now I am fascinated by the genious that went into designing them

Thumbs up Not hard to do

I rebuilt my own back in the day. I swapped out a two BBL and manifold for the 4BBL. I was 17 and too naive to think it may be difficult. It ran perfectly afterward. Do not fear the Mighty Q-Jet!

They're not too hard to do on your own. Don't psych yourself out about it. It can be knocked out during a Saturday afternoon.

A decent rebuild kit will run you somewhere between $20-$40. Take a look on Amazon. I did mine 2 years ago and she's still running great.

As long as it is in good shape, you rebuild yourself if you are fimilar with carbs. Mine ran awful even after a rebuild, pretty it was plugged up somewhere. I got Ken from Everyday Performance to rebuild mine, included secondary throttle and I provided the carb to rebuild for around $250. It runs great.
