I screwed up- cut the dash
Hey folks. It's been a while.
Lorayne got a stereo upgrade today and when I first installed the aftermarket deck 2 years ago I cut the dash :-( now I'm regretting it and was looking for option to return her to the stock look. Buying a dash is an option but I assume a lot of work to replace. Are there any kits to put the original radio back in, or aftermarket install kits I can use to clean it up?

I'm sure one of the guys here that parts out cars can hook you up with the metal radio section of the dash you'll need to repair that part. That would need to be welded in.
You already know you need a new plastic dash piece. That, you can most likely do yourself. You'll just have to remove the plastic dash piece and the pad. It really isn't all that hard. There are only 7 speed nuts holding the dash on.
As for installing an aftermarket stereo once the dash is back to stock, I have been building stereo (and gauge) housings that are based on the 68-72 Cutlass factory 8 track tape player housing for about 14 years now. Here's a link to an older ad I have here on this site for them. Let me know if you have any questions about the housings if you are interested in going that route.

Good luck,

My bad.
I edited the post above to include the link I mentioned. Sounds like you found the ad or already knew about them and have a plan.
Drop me a line when you're ready for the housing. w70442@hotmail.com
