Motivation ........

I tell you... It really is hard to get motivated sometimes... so many things on the go at all times I really commend the guys that kick it into gear and get these cars done

I can't go like I used to. I still have the desire and can be patient but when my backside hits my favorite chair it is over.

I can speak from experience, the '46 sat without any attention for a year until I just recently got back into it. I was almost considering selling it to concentrate my free time and money on the '77 which really just needs maintenance because of it's good condition. I am glad I kept the '46 and waited it out. I think the break was finding out that the distributor was the problem. After replacing it and getting the engine running again it has been much easier to have the motivation to spend even just one hour in the afternoon doing something, anything to improve it.

Keep it up, don't become disheartened. The car will still be there waiting for you. Decide what would be the most motivating achievement within your ability and power to accomplish and then set that as a goal. When it is done, you will find you have much more energy to continue.

My motivation is picturing the finished project!! It is also like putting together a jigsaw puzzle, the kind ya cant stop doing... Also since my "shop" is not at my home it gives me a chance to get away from household demands, darling wife, etc. and get lost in my man cave. Once there I loose all track of time....its great!

Life happens, time can get away from you "ME" and the next thing you know it has been 12 years and the car you love so much and have spent so much on is just sitting, waiting. I have just finished my 455 rebuild which was mostly out of necessity to sell the car, As it turns out this was the one thing I needed to get me motivated to do something with my 442. Some time in the near future I plan on rebuilding the engine for the 442, and that will complete the frame/drive-train part of my restoration.

I know how it is, especially tearing apart a working car, only to make it immobile for a while.
Of course the satisfaction at the end of a successful job is the reward. I wish I had more time and space or I would be doing much more.

its the apple in front of the horse. seeing other guys on the road, or building similar cars, all for that day when it backs out of the garage under its own power and you start going for short drives to test your latest repair or modification you just performed. i went for a test drive after my new sunvisors went in

I just made sure that I did a little each day, no matter how small it was. You eventually see progress and get more excited about seeing the end product! Keep at it.
