Well the two lines Im talking about are coming from behind the radiator. I am aware of the charcoal canister and the lines that run to it are much smaller than these two lines. I dont think they go to the canister. I could be wrong but I dont think so.

There will be fittings on the transmission it self to run the lines on mine i just use the cooler on the radiator. Is this a after market cooler ? Used one on a auto trans tow vehicle years ago.

If there IS an aftermarket cooler in front of the radiator connected to those hoses, I bet they were once connected to the two metal tranny coolor lines that are screwed into the radiator.

The transmission fluid should go through the radiator cooler then through the auxiliary cooler and back to the trans. The one line looks short?, maybe it bypassed the radiator cooler?
There should be a male thread barbed hose fitting for the radiator to hook up the rubber line from the radiator to the cooler and a female barbed fitting for the end of the hard trans return line fitting for the other hose. I would hook it up if it's already there, sure can't hurt, unless you're going for a stock resto look that is.
