I locked the keys in the Oldsmobile this morning!

I drove the Olds to work because my wife stayed home with our daughter. I left the VW with them in case my wife needs to take the kid to the doctor (the kid isn't feeling too well).

Anwyays, I parked the Olds at work, put the club on the steering wheel, grabbed my lunch box, locked the car and shut the door. The moment I shut the door I knew I had locked my keys in the car.

Unfortunately, I only have one set of keys. The good thing is that I have roadside assistance through the insurance company. The guy came out and rescued my keys that were sitting on the front seat!

Interestingly enough the guy that came to pop the lock was the same guy that towed it to the exhaust shop about a year ago.

It is only 0800 and it is already a Monday!

 

my grandmother always had a 2nd set of keys on her (and so do I) and it took many years but about 6 mo ago they locked the keys in the Toronado at the car wash

they actually asked if I had another set of keys on me, and shockingly I did

 

I know what I am doing this afternoon. I am going to have an additional set of keys made.

My wife locks her keys in her car so often, I got an extra set in everyone of our cars. [So I can go unlock hers]

 

I have made it a habit to lock my 442 from the outside when I get out of it just as a precaution. I don't have to worry about my truck because I use the key fob to lock it.

 

I hear ya. How many times with the motor running? now with OnStar and cell phones my trips have diminished

Do get some spares made (and if you order the repro GM blanks, pray that they fit unlike mine.)
Lady gets locked with the remote, so i know the keys are with me when i leave.

 

On my 70 Cutlass Holiday Coupe, it won't allow me to lock the door from the inside. When I close it, it unlocks the door. So, in my case I have to lock the door from the outside everytime

Is this a model specific feature?

hold the button in on the outside door handle while you close the door and it will stay locked.

 

"Back in the day" I got pretty good with a coat hanger, could unlock my door in about 30 seconds...finally just started carrying a second set.

Thanks. It got into the habit because for some reason when I lock the door with the **** for some reason it's hard to unlock from the inside or out.

 

I changed the door lock covers specifically so someone couldn't use a coat hanger. The tool the wrecker guy used had a large rubber band which allowed him to open the door lock.

 

Good thing you had someone who could open it and not damage anything. I started using a hide-a-key on my frame so if I ever did lock my keys in the car, I could get at my spare easily. (Unless of course it was raining, then I got soaked trying to get at it)
