Back to my roots! Found a Rallye 350, my forever car

This will be my keeper car. I started with a Rallye 350 and God willing I will keep this one till my girls get it. I will post more about it in the future but it is an unrestored original paint car. The original owner passed away in 2014 and his son was selling it for his mom. From what I understand, most of its 92K miles were put on it in the first few years and then never driven much after that. I was told it was on the road two times from 2003 to 2014 and none since then. I should have it on the road again soon.

Very cool, Eric. Did you pay extra for the "barn find" dirt and bird droppings.
Sounds like a good place to park one of Mark Remmel's 4" stroker cranks. Stock appearing with 50% more HP,

My original plans when starting the hunt for a Rallye 350 was to do some modifications to it and likely go to a 455. After getting this one, it is so pure I hate to do much to it and for sure not getting a 455, lol. It is an AC car so I don't want it hopped up so much I have trouble with temps in traffic. I will be using the AC.

As far as the dirt, I did ask them to not clean it or even get it running. I wanted it just as it was. I see to many mistakes from good hearted people that just didn't know they were doing something wrong or toss something out they shouldn't have.

Yeah, I wouldn't make any externally visible changes. There's no reason why the stroker motor won't be just fine with the A/C on. Mark can recommend a good cam as he did for my Delta 88. Even stock bore with a 4" stroke gives you a 414. 0.030 over and you get a 420 in a stock-appearing package. Four row core and stock clutch fan will cool that just fine.

I would have to use another block. I was never a huge numbers guy for the Rallye because it is mainly just a Cutlass but this one is so pure I would have a hard time doing that to the original engine. For now I will get it road worthy. I will likely swap out the nylon timing set this winter. I have seen some like new at 100K miles and I have seen some that were trashed in 100K miles. I would rather do it and know it is good.

Very nice Eric! It's great to find your forever car. I did the same when I found my 70 W.

Eric,
You have a nose like a bloodhound. Love the R350s
Automatic A/C car?
Bench or buckets?
Buddy and I found one in an impound lot back in 86 (S coupe). California clean, missing the wing. Took a nose dive somewhere, bent the frame, tweaked the front fenders, slight damage to the hood, just the tongue.
We put a 71 frame and clip on it.
I almost bought it off him for $1500, but bought the 68 442 instead, for $1700.
Was a 350 bucket seat no air car.
That 350 would nearly keep up with my 442.

In the parking lot of the hotel I was already asked if it is a Super Bee, lol. The funnier part, my wife has been calling it that for the past three days because she knew we use to get that all the time with my old one.

Back in 1970 when these first came out, we all called them banana cars. Excellent find, best of luck for owning it many years!
