I have enclosed a document outlining all the codes and their related information for my car. I am unsure about one code, NB1. Would anyone have any information on this code's meaning?
GM Production Options, Published in 1991 (so its from the era) says NB1 is "Emission System, Closed Loop".
(For reference, NB2 is "Emission System, California, Tier 0")
The GR47 on the tag signifies Cutlass Supreme 2-door notchback. I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but hang on...
The Y78 (Calais) RPO option changes a whole lot of things for the car, especially changing the "AR" in the VIN to "AK". This has nothing to do with the body tag.
NA5 is basically North America emissions stuff, with the exception of those quirky folks in California. So the emission equipment used in Canada should be the same as 49 states in the U.S. Note too that 17U and 17L is used, where black was actually the lower color. It's because at the time, the W40 RPO included painting the lower body in gloss black, on top of the all silver car. There is NO documentation calling for lower black paint, even in the trunk SPID RPOs. The wheels/tires, air shocks, reinforced hood, lower black paint and all the decal striping was done at Lansing assembly. C&C (Hurst) just added the shifter, scoop and center hood trim, spoiler, and front air dam. Can't recall exactly if the H/O bullnose emblem and dash emblem was put on at the factory or at C&C. I think it was at C&C. To note, NA5 is usually coupled with NB1, which basically says you're using a closed loop emission control system with an ECM that meets federal standards, which meets Canadian standards as well.
More importantly, the SPID sticker inside the trunklid would have ALL the good RPOs on it. Got a picture of that? That would tell us lots more. Open trunk lid. Look to the left. Should have your VIN and all the pertinent RPOs that were on the car when new.

Thanks for all the helpful information. I’ve spent the last couple of days searching online for all the RPO codes associated with my car, and below is my spreadsheet along with a picture of the RPO sticker. As a side note, GM's "8" and "B" look very similar, so I had to use a magnifying glass to double-check. The X marks on the Excel spreadsheet indicate where I’m not 100% certain I have the correct information, so if anyone can help fill in the blanks, that would be great.
Wow. That decoder is FUBAR. I can tell you right now, one glance at all that and I can say QYH is the tires, 215/65R-15. Goodyear Eagle GTs. 8 and 9PZ are the rear spring codes. PZ is predominately used on the back of H/Os and 442s back in those days, although other codes have been used.
I can break it all down for you. And can even make a window sticker from that SPID.
So, not every option is going to make sense, and it doesn't have to. The main point these are used for today is to show factory provenance of rare options and packages. If you got those, you are good.

Errrw.....Canadian car. Yikes. A bit more troublesome to decode. I don't have all the codes for those. There's two codes I cannot locate, E7K and VP6. Not for 1984 standards. The RPO codes can and DO change sometimes over the years, so what worked one year, may be something completely different on another year vehicle.

"D80- W40, Extension, rear panel. (Whatever that is. I've never figured that out)" The RPO book I'm referring to says, "SPOILER, RR END PNL".
May very well be. But the spoiler was done at the upfitter, not at the factory. Unless, there was something that the factory had to do to support the spoiler addition to the car. Perhaps is was installing thicker torsion rods? The spoiler does add a bit of heft to the trunklid.
So, not every option is going to make sense, and it doesn't have to. The main point these are used for today is to show factory provenance of rare options and packages. If you got those, you are good.
This is very true. Some option descriptors don't make a lick of sense sometimes. It does to the manufacturer, but not to the motoring public all the time. But it's like you say, if you have RPO W40, but none of the trim delete codes or other H/O only equipment listed that should be there like TL1 for the blacked out grilles, then you have to be concerned with the car's authenticity. Or lack of.
