Spring/Fall Carlisle/Hershey, I am confused
I have never looked into these shows but I thought Hershey and Fall Carlisle were the same thing. I have been looking them up and I guess this is two different things? Out of all these what is the best to go to? What is the difference between them? All they all the same thing just different time and place? Are all these AACA events?
Carlisle and Hershey are completely different swap meets in different locations. Fall Carlisle is the week before Hershey and some vendors just go from one to the other over the two week period. I've had four spaces at Spring and Fall Carlisle for a number of years now. Hershey is AACA and is SUPPOSED to be only unmodified cars and parts, but that's not really the case. Hershey tends to be primarily 1930s-1950s cars and parts, but the 60s are creeping in. Hershey also has what I find to be an inordinate amount of marginally-related stuff that you have to wade through to get to the automotive stuff - period clothing, gas pumps, antique outboard motors, etc, etc. Don't get me wrong, it's cool, but the signal-to-noise ratio is awful. The good news is that I've frequently found a desirable later model part mixed in among older unrelated stuff for a dirt-cheap price (for example, an NOS 1970 passenger side clamshell mirror in the box for $15!). Carlisle is more street rods, muscle cars, and speed parts. Spring Carlisle is better attended than Fall in both vendors and buyers. PM me if you want more info.
Thanks. I guess these are much different that I thought they were. I would like to go to Carlisle at least once at some point. Sounds like my wife would like Hershey better. She loves the more vintage stuff and even more from 1900 to late 20's.
Burd, I have been to them. Believe me Carlisle is bigger than Novi, and Hersey is bigger than that -I mean HUGE!!! I may go to Novi on Sunday, but I have to decide- It's a long way from Harrison!
