Rescheduled Spring Carlisle
Rescheduled Spring Carlisle
Last week of May, with backup in the middle of June. I fear this is still optimistic.

I'm surprised they waited so long. The safety measures they were offering on their web site included included extra hand sanitizer, and ticket takers and hand stampers would be offered gloves. Seemed pretty inadequate. Their portable toilets generally had no hand wash facilities, and are they going to sanitize that stamp between each person?

Those are rented by individual vendors and not typically available to the general public anyway. What a private person does is their own business.
Dropped off my 67 Bumpers to Tri City at the Fall swap and was hoping to escape shipping costs by picking them up in April at Carlisle. I called them today and told them to ship them. I am thinking the whole Spring event will not take place and if by some chance they have it, turnout of both vendors and shoppers will be poor.

I love my cargo pants, I carry folded up paper towels and a small bottle of "germ juice" hand sanitizer. Elbow open doors or use a paper towel, I only give "air" elbow bumps to people. To bad about the swap meets, open spaces, fresh air, sunlight, some exercise, put a few dollars in to the economy, nah, they don't want that.
Ok the OCA mailed me this, If Carlisle ever wants me back there they better take Chevrolet out of their header. General message to OCA members
With more and more events being cancelled, it is perhaps time to think positive and look to events that should fall outside the COVID-19 window. See below for information about the CArlisle Chevrolet/GM event planned for June, with a special offer of discounted registration.
Carlisle Events will be hosting the Carlisle Chevrolet Nationals on June 26 and June 27, 2020 at the Carlisle, Pennsylvania Fairgrounds. This event is expected to draw more than 1,000 vehicles that were produced by General Motors. The event will include:
Registration for your Oldsmobile will be $45.00 – but if you register prior to May 26, the Gate-n-Go registration will be $40.50.
If you elect to be a spectator, Guest Admission is $10.00 per day or $15.00 for both days. There is no admission charge for kids 12 and under who are accompanied by an adult.
Both days, the gates open at 7:00 am and close at 6:00 pm. At 6:30 pm Saturday, June 27, there will be an Awards Parade.
For additional information, see www.carlisleevents.com, click on Events, and go to 2020 Chevrolet Nationals.

New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and the rest of the region are all bad.
Courts are closed as are all businesses except for food deliveries. It's frightening. You don't want to be in the area. Frightening to see residents walking with masks.

Looked at their website and seems its a GO for the June 17-21 dates. They are going to comply with Covid restrictions, seems like they are stressing that it will be safe for anyone to attend.... Doesn't say you will need to wear a mask. They are also discounting advance ticket sales by $2.50. I am still expecting a poor turnout all around for this event.... hope I am wrong.
That message has been unchanged for a month now. AACA just cancelled Fall Hershey, which is a much bigger deal. Stay tuned for Carlisle updates, I suspect. The legal liabilities are potentially huge.

From AACA:
It is with great regret that the AACA Hershey Region Executive Board informs you that the 2020 Hershey Fall Meet has been cancelled. This decision was not arrived at lightly. Our Club prides itself on producing a world-class event that thousands of people anticipate every year, so we felt the heaviest of burdens when faced with this decision.
While making the difficult choice to cancel, the Board took many obstacles into account, including but not limited to: the health and welfare of our volunteers, vendors, partners, and visitors; the unknown restrictions and/or guidelines that may be in place at the time of our show; and the volunteer-only workforce we rely on to prepare for a show of our magnitude.
We appreciate you understanding how difficult this decision was for the Executive Board to make. We know that some people will be upset by the decision and others will applaud it. Either way, please know that the Hershey Region Executive Board has acted in what they believe are the best interests of the Club, and we ask for your continued support as we navigate these unprecedented times.
Refund information will be sent very soon in regards to all payments already received by the Hershey Region AACA.
Please know that we continue to explore ideas to benefit the hobby and are working toward the possibility of still hosting our usual car show on Saturday in October. While this may not be doable, AACA and the Hershey Region along with other constituencies are working hard to make this possible. Please visit our website and social media as often as possible for the latest news.

Well, I'm not sure how Spring Carlisle will take place, given that the following from the governor of PA was issued two days ago as part of the reopening guidelines:
G. Any gathering for a planned or spontaneous event of greater than 250 individuals is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, a concert, fair, festival, conference, sporting event, movie showing, or theater performance.
As of this afternoon, June 3, Carlisle Events says the swap meet is still on, but the car auction is cancelled. Video just posted on FB.

I don't know. I clearly read Post #19 & Post #20, I watched the video & I reviewed the Governor's Green Phase. This doesn't make any sense to me. A Carlisle Event swap meet limited to 250 or do they plan on some sort of lottery to allow people 'inside' the swap meet area? Peculiar if you ask me. If it's on the Internet it must be true.

Ha, a way to have the Carlisle Swap, just call it a religious event, I know it is just that for me!
- Any gathering for a planned or spontaneous event of greater than 250 individuals is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, a concert, festival, fair, conference, sporting event, movie showing, or theater performance.
- Churches, synagogues, temples, mosques and other places of congregate worship are specifically excluded from the limitations established by the order. These institutions are strongly encouraged to enforce social distancing and other mitigation measures such as masking at their gatherings.
"filled the Benjamin Franklin Parkway from the Philadelphia Museum of Art toward City Hall, packed tightly as they walked along the roughly ¾-mile stretch. Police estimated the crowd size at 8,500 people."
This was 2 days ago. I don't see why a bunch of car guys spenting money while walking in open spaces and outside should be a problem. Jmo.

Let me see if I can say this apolitically.
We should be able to see if the medical pundits are right about the corona virus's spreading mechanics and contagiousness or not by watching the uptick (or lack there of) in new cases in those cities with protests//demonstrations/riots.

I spoke to the head honcho s of Carlisle....
I gave them four super ideas , one they have already implemented, the other three they are going to.... Because they NEED the $$$$$, they NEED the show, and so do a lot of us "vendors"
who can't vend when shows are cancelled.
The twice postponed Englishtown in New Jersey, the week AFTER the twice postponed Spring Carlisle, was just cancelled today......
Spring Carlisle is four days, twelve hours a day, outside, and spread over 82 acres. Can anyone tell me the places in Carlisle where there will be 250 people gathering ?????
The answer is one (1) the food court.... And that has already been stretched out, and will be
Routinely and Always monitored....
Plus, we are not a bunch of 23 year olds , storming to the beach and acting stupid!!!!!!!
Can this show go on safely ???? Absolutely ......
And, haven't we all had enough ????? LET US LIVE !!!!!
If we all still practice our safety measures, the SHOW CAN GO ON !!!!!!!!!
(See you there at I I (Aye - Aye) 118 - 119 !!!!!!!!!
Yours, Craig......
