i have a 1974 olds cutlass 442 with a 455 .40 over big block out of a 1968 442 the motor is 10.1 comp trw forged racing heads a huge comp cam extreme energy 284 cam kit with roller 1.7 rockers double roller timing chain with the big valve c racing heads i have a built turbo 400 trans and a eaton 4.10 posi so idk since the 455 is making a ton of power and torque maybe a higher gear ratio like 3.73 or 3.55 would be better the car is a street car and i love the way it launches with the 4.10 but rpms get really high after 45 mph so looking for best setup and trying not to lose all my launch even though my 3000 stall should keep it launching hard so any help would be appreciated

 

What tire are you running? You can effectively change your gear ratio by going with a larger diameter tire. Much cheaper and easier.

 

I am running 3:08's in my 57 Olds with a built 455 and with a 2200 stall convertor it launches real had. Cruises at 2100 rpm at 65 and it weighs more then yours

 

Iam running a 3.73 and a 28 inch tall tire..........
