Anybody have a good way to remove painted lettering on a Snap-On tool box. I have an old box with some less than desirable lettering on it and I want to remove. I have heard of some people using easy off oven cleaner, how does that work?

 

IF the letters are painted on then you can probably use mineral spirits, or paint thinner to remove it. Hopefully it will only remove the letters and will leave the tool box paint in one piece.

 

Lacquer thinner, but be careful.

 

A bar of lava soap and a light touch? That's what an old sign painter who used to letter my dad's work truck used at times.

 

Just for you guys info, the easy off worked great. I sprayed a little on and let it sit a couple minutes and then wiped with paper towel and it started to come right off along with very little of the red snap-on paint. I did it about three times and it is all gone.
