1957 Oldsmobile vin location
1957 Oldsmobile vin location
I have two 57 oldsmobiles and restoring one. One 57 has the vin tag above the lower door hinge. The other one is below the top hinge. Did the vin location vary from plant to plant? The one above the lower hinge is from Kansas City and the one below the top hinge is from Detroit. Thanks,
The 1957 VIN tags were spot welded to the doorframe .
Are both tags attached by "dimple " spotwelds ?
If they are attached by rivits , screws , etc they have been removed and re-installed .
The VIN number was also stamped on the frame somewhere ( not sure where on this model ) .
The number on the doorpost tag and the one on the frame must match .

. One 88 has the vin, above lower hinge, is still there, sort of. Rust behind spot welds gave way but holes still there. The other car did not have a vin tag, however the vin tag (from other car) matches the spot weld holes below the top hinge. Just curious if different plants put vin tag in different place? Thanks,
