57 Olds model/Vin info
I have a 57 Olds and the Vin & # on the door pilar tag do match, The # is 577C15446. The title notes ( model C!5) and (Vehicle body P2D). Can anyone tell me what the vin # represent other than the 57 being the year. What does C15 signify: and the last VIn# 446: and the title body# P2D ?
On the firewall ID plate it notes as follows; Style 57-3637 ; Body no. BC 5 6057; trim -363 ; paint 40-40-06-40; ACC K-3. What do all these numbers tell me?

indicates that it's a 1957 Oldsmobile 88 built at Southgate, California. The "C" doesn't go with the "15." At least, I don't think it does. Your title might be in error. The 15446 is the just the production sequence number for that plant, probably starting at something like 10001.
I don't know how the 5, 7, 7, and C break down, but they're certainly the year, model, and production plant. The "C" is likely the code for Southgate. "57" = year? "7" = 88? I'm sure a '50s Olds owner will know.
