1966 4-Speed Console Mounting..

Need a little help with a question. On a factory installed 4-speed console, were the mounting brackets welded to the floor or were they screwed down? When I bought my car in 1971 the console brackets were sheet metal screwed to the floor. Having just replaced the floor pan in my 66' I want to do it the right way. Thanks in advance!

Dave , yes, they were welded. the same console and brackets as my 68 . I am not too far from you north of GR if you need some help?,did you convert your car to a 4 speed or was it a 4 speed originally?

Originally a 4-speed, but console was probably added before I purchased it in 1971. Console brackets were all screwed down. I do not see any old weld marks on the hump to indicate factory installed.
Thanks for the info!

I forgot to mention that the front bracket was screwed to the floor as it would interfere with removal of the heater box,but the other 3 are welded.but you don't really need a console then if it didn't come with one and you should probably sell it to me ,I need one for my car yet.

My 66 Cutlass vert is factory 4-spead. Brackets were welded. I would upload a picture but for some reason It just doesn't work. Nice project. Have seen your car several times at Lansing. My favorite color.
