Dash Related

Hi all,
Does anyone have any advice on removing the aluminum heater control appliqué and installing
a new one in the dash on a 70 Cutlass? Mine is worn out and can’t even see the writing on it anymore.

Also, anyone familiar with the Dakota Digital Instrument cluster for a 70 Cutlass dash? Anyone have
one or installed one? If so are you happy with it and does it come with everything necessary to install?
How hard is it to install it?
Thanks,
Billy

The aluminum applique' can be peeled off with a sharp and small screwdriver - it's just stuck on there with adhesive. Be careful not to scratch up the surrounding chrome edges. I found some very narrow double-sided 3M tape to install my new one and it works great (eBay).

Use the clear 3M metal trim adhesive made for this (sparingly).
I have the 3M part number home. I bought a small tub to apply the brushed aluminum insert on my 68 automatic consol shift plate. I used 4 brush strokes from a 8oz can.
A waste but It worked as intended. I couldn't find smaller quantities a few years ago.
