Pax side mirror

Can anyone tell me if a dr side remote mirror could be used on the pax side?
I would really like to have a pax side mirror that matches the original dr side mirror on my 69 442.
I’m sure that someone out there has tried this
Thanks for any replies

Unfortunately, Jerry there are no options for our cars except the manual rh mirror. The off-set of the Lh mirror wouldn't work on the rh side. If I remember right the pass side mirror wasn't even offered as a factory installed option, it was only available from the dealer as an accessory. My '68 has the drivers remote mirror & it's in mint cond. & I wrestled with adding the manual rh mirror as I too didn't like the idea of having 2 mismatched mirrors on the car but I wanted a mirror on the pass side(makes it much easier to park the car in tight in my garage). Now that it's on I'm happy with it, it's shape is close enough to the remote mirror. The only other option is to get rid of the remote drivers mirror & put a matching manual on it. I did that on my 1st '68 442 that I restored back in the 80s but luckily I had a spare door panel that didn't have the hole cut in it for the remote mirror.

Only if you want the reflective surface pointed towards the FRONT of the car...

Think about it - these mirrors are RH/LH. Either replace the current remote mirror with a non-remote version or learn to live with the asymmetry.

It's conceivable that a '68 or '69 could have been ordered with the remote driver side mirror and a dealer accessory (non-remote) passenger side mirror added after the car either arrived at the dealership or (more likely) added by the purchaser. It seems odd to me that it could have happened but I believe there are a few on this site that actually have cars in that configuration. My '69 originally came with the remote driver side mirror and, when I restored it, I went with the non-remote driver side mirror and installed the dealer accessory passenger side mirror just so the two mirrors would match. I'm still considering installing that driver side remote mirror just because our Oldsmobiles of that era could have been set up that way!

Thanks for the replies. I have the dr side remote mirror and was hoping that if I could find a 2nd remote mirror that I could use it on the pax side if it was possible to turn the mirror in the mirror frame to make it work on the pax side with or without being remote. From your responses, I guess that will not work and I don’t want a mismatch set.

I've wondered from time-to-time if these cars were ever sold in countries that had right-hand drives, where a right-hand remote mirror might have been made to accommodate that situation. But I've never taken it any further than wondering!
