Travelled to Three Hills Alberta to take in what is normally a pretty good show but is also a show associated with weather issues. Yesterday was absolutely terrific with a slight breeze to keep it from being too hot. Great crowd and cars. Did not see many Cutlass's which is nice as that was why I started taking interest in them. At these shows you often find some of the nicest cars off the beaten path. There was a very nice 390 Ford Galaxie parked close to where we were that was not being shown but definitely was good enough. There was a Buick GSX survivor that was very good but needed some new rubber if you ever really put your foot into it ( rubber was visibly old ). I am not a great photographer and managed to get my finger in a picture of a very cool Ford with a great color scheme. I like cars in general so don't get offended that these pics are not Oldsmobiles. These shows are great in that you can pick up ideas for the project that you are doing or planning! I also got to talk to a fellow who has owned many more Cutlass's than I have and he shared some great information. Enjoy!
Nice clean and straight 390 Galaxie. The 390 was a pretty good motor that could surprise.
Just simply a really well done car ( Buick). The styling and lines are amazing.~
Parked out back. Would have been nice to see under the hood!
Need to keep my fat fingers out of the pic. Very nice paint / colors.
Great color. When the sun is on it you have flames without having flames,
Classic hod rodder flames
The environmentalist special - Green flames. Looks great.
Very clean goat.
Mercs just make great led sleds!
GSX Survivor
Very nice Bird!
A gem parked in the back rows. It was like looking at a new Studebaker!
Very nice. I got up this morning to go to a car show. Registration started at 8:30 and I was there before 9:00. It is a beautiful day and the show was going to be on the grounds of the Cooper Aerobics Center which is a very exclusive place in north Dallas. I got there and there was a sign on the gate that it was postponed until next Sunday. A guy came to the gate and said it was because the grounds were too wet from all the rain we had this week. Makes sense. So I got out early and had a nice ride with the top down.

The Three Hills show is notorious for getting rain. You count your blessings when they have picture perfect weather! I wish that my car was done as having the option of going for a top down drive is priceless!
I was there with my 1972 W-30 and buddy Al was there with his U code 1973 442. Another friend had his 75 Delta convertible between us and two cars down was a black 1971 SX. We were all parked right behind that green Firebird. What about the 1972 Cutlass convertible and the original paint 1965 442?
The GSX owner dismissed my suggestion that he replace his tires as foolish. The tires were on the car when his dad bought it in 1978. Some people are too stupid to be the care takers of a car that important.

I thought it was a Ford Fairlane with a Canadian grill. It does say FORD on the hood.
The red car in the first picture is a 1966 Fairlane. There was a tan 67 there also that a former neighbor used to race and spray into the 11s. The 67 has the vertical bars on the grille missing on the 66 if I recall correctly.
Great cars. Just one correction, the first car is a Merc Comet (67 I think) not a Ford Galaxy.
Unlike elected folks I will admit to an error. Thx for the catch! It was a very nice straight car and would have held it's own in the show. The car is a nice manageable size so with a strong 390 under the hood it would be a lot of fun to drive!

So there really is a place called Three Hills, Alberta! Back in 1986, while living in Winnipeg, Manitoba, I purchased a '75 Cadillac ambulance that was originally owned by Kneehill Ambulance in Three Hills, AB. It was involved in a relatively minor fender bender in Red Deer, and since it was already 11 years old, and rt.ft. suspension damage was involved, the insurance co. wrote it off. An individual bought and repaired it, and advertised it for sale. I purchased it and operated it for the next 3 years as the standby ambulance at Winnipeg Speedway, as well as multiple motocross events throughout Manitoba. I'm sure there's some people in that town that still remember this car.

I remember that ambulance.... It was in a movie. Something about ghosts wasn't it?😜😜

Does Winnipeg Speedway still operate?
It's sad that these unique, hand crafted professional cars will always be associated with that movie.
The race track still exists in Winnipeg, but it has changed owners several times, and has been re-named twice since I was last there in 1989. It was called Victory Lane Speedway for a while, and is now known as Red River Co-op Speedway. A friend of mine is still the announcer there, and I understand it is a fairly impressive facility.
