According to this article, they built 3547 Rallye 350 cars. So I'm unsure where you are getting yours is 383. What number does this refer to?

That was the last 6 digits on the body tag.

The cowl tag body unit number was not unique to Rallye 350 cars. It was just another Cutlass body.

a70, the ~ in front of ~239000-327000ish indicates an estimate. Its all we have. Its dated published info gathered throughout the years. Mostly from the defunct (as far as I know)"Rallye 350 Group" of owners who used to be on "yahoo groups", who at the time had a gathered date range from their Rallye owner base, as well as available published data. The "estimate" kinda coincides with the known production calendar but certainly isn't etched in stone. Time for someone else to update that with DOCUMENTED cars. We know for some certainty that a September 69 run couldn't or shouldn't be a "production" Rallye. The option wasn't published to the dealers until early-mid February. Officially introduced by John Betz Feb 18th 1970. A December car would be in question unless accompanied with rock solid docs. Now, a late June car could be possible for sure? Id be more inclined to believe later cars exist but not the earlier ones. I will stick with it until we have documented cars that will force data updating. 31 years of ownership doesn't prove pedigree. It helps, sure, but documentation is what we need. a70...If you have it please send that info. Ill update the list I have so Im sending out known good data to all. Rallyes are elusive.
383000 on the assembly line would be what? What does your date of manufacture indicate?

Gearmans 01A, 237000 is plausible for sure. These tags were stamped by us humans. E.G. If someone stamped a tag late on Friday and went home before affixing it to a 01B car thats certainly possible.

There was pic I shared somewhere that I took at the Nats last Summer of a another pic in a guys Rallye 350 display showing a bunch of Rallye 350 cars awaiting stripes in the snow otside at Lansing plant and it was dated January 70 and there were a lot of cars built and waiting. It was something Helen Earley had shared before. I think the door sticker date matched too , it does on my 4 speed car

January

https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...tml#post853489

you can make out words in picture but to me looks a good number of cars were built in January waiting on stripes, I bet there is a good chance one or both of mine were in the pic.

Shows the span of the different models too. Some with wing windows, some with non-recessed wipers, with & with out the stainless on the door frames...etc... Kool pic! Wouldn't get that model variety today from the dam bean counters! And to think 100% of them were USA UAW made iron, no mexican chineasium junk! Older IS better!

I have 3 rallyes entered in the W machine registry website, one was on craigslist that showed the VIN so I took liberty to document it as well.

Thnks for the help.It seems like there isn't any documents showing the real answers to some of the questions on these cars.I also had the red S emblem under the cutlass emblem on the fenders and no rocket symbol on the key lock hole on the trunk and heard it was supposed to have that.

actually the completed Rallye 350 was started after Jan. 19th. Some were partially built prior to that waiting on parts to complete, such as the stripes from an outside vendor due to the UAW strike. I have pictures of completed Rallye 350s in a secured fenced area behind the Final Assembly Building, off Logan Street, with snow on them.

GERMAN69: If you notice that they all are " Cutlass post cars" which actually have F-85 3277 Fisher/Lansing body VIN numbers. I did not see my first Hardtop (3687) Rallye 350 till late Feb in that parking lot.

It is so cool to have someone here that was there ! Yeah I find it funny my F85 and the other F85 Rallye's still have a Cutlass fender emblem but F85 on the glove box. But that is how they came
