I would like to confirm matching numbers on my Rallye 350. I think I'm looking in the right place but can't find the engine number. I have been following these directions: For 1968 and up blocks, this number is located on a pad just below the cylinder head on the front left side of the engine. This number will be stamped on a machined pad on the front driver's side of the block, just below the deck surface. Typically it will be covered with a power steering bracket or something, below the number one spark plug location. I believe the power steering bracket may be holding me back. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

With power steering attached, I doubt you can read the numbers.

If you climb under the car and look at the ear next with an led worklight of flashlight it can be read. A little fine sandpaper may be needed to clean off some corrosion. That's why I did last weekend when I was verifying if my motor was the original(an it is, not like it matters).
