Windshield

My windshield has 49 years of swirl mark scratches in it, making it no fun to drive with todays crazy bright headlights or low sun coming my way. Literally zero visibility and for a little too long. Short of replacing the windshield, any polishes, etc that may help?

Polishing may remove some of the scratches, but lead to distortions. Replacing is the best solution.

I did this on my 55' super 88 and was pleasantly surprised. Wash the car making sure the windshield is cleaned well and dry. Get some #0000 steel wool leave it dry and lightly rub the glass with the steel wool up and down. Get a good glass cleaner like invisible glass or other quality brand(no ammonia), and clean the glass using a microfiber towel only. Lastly I used Griots glass polish applied it according to the directions, again after it hazes wipe with another clean microfiber towel. You'll be surprised at the improvement it makes. Good Luck !

Thanks for the tip. I will have to try that on my 96 Regency. It has a scratch from the wiper on the windshield. Definitely preferrable to replacing the windshield.

I replaced the windshield on my 71 Cutlass after it got a chip and was really surprised how much clearer it was. A immediate improvement. Seemed to make the whole car seem newer.
