Why would a guy try to do this on Ebay?

This was the second time I've been left scratching my head over the paperwork on my W30 Olds.
A guy called me on my car on ebay and talked it up like he was extremely interested in the car. Then came the strange part. He said he needed a full size Zerox color copy of my build sheet. I assured him it was the original because I pulled it out of the seat spring myself and I asked if just a copy would do. He said no, he has a 71 w30 that he has the same sheet and wants to compare them side by side. He offered to send me the $60 to cover the costs for a perfect copy. I got my suspicions but what do you think he wants to do?

He wants to clone that sucker and make one for himself. He can buy the build sheet for full price and you'll throw the car in for free...that's what I'd say.

Doesn't matter.

Any copy is just a copy, and could easily be falsified if you were of a mind to do so.

If he really wants to assure himself that your build sheet is real, he will have to see it in person.

If he needs that close a copy, I'd say he's up to no good.

Same kind of program as when BH tried to buy the tags off your car. Damn thieves are trying to pull a scam-o-rama

Thats what I figured. The guy says he's "got the money" and won't take no for an answer. He claims he will pay more than other people if he can just see the Zerox color copy first. He seems hostile and called less than one minute after the auction ended to apply more pressure. I expected some BS but not this much.

Tell the guy to crap or get off the pot. I would not jump through hoops to please him. If he won't accept a regular copy of it then blow him off. Like I said he's either in or out.

Tell him to send you the exact color copy of his build sheet that he would like to see of yours. If you receive it, tell him you will send him your copy "free of charge".

WAG - he wants to make an authentic "FAKE" version for his own car.

I'd tell Him sure no problem, it will be $1000.00. Tell him it will be refunded right after he buys the Car from you.
