What are the pros and cons of a 425 V 455 build?

425 short stroke V 455 long stroke
What is the benefit of each

engine rpm will be limited to 5000 to 5500

The 455 has 30 more cubic inches and pistons are far easier to get. The forged crank in the 425 is meaningless for your projected redline. Also, if the 425 has the 45 deg lifter bank angle or the 0.921" lifters, cam and/or lifter prices will be about double. That's about the extent of the differences.

Joe said it all but I would like to add the 455 is what you want for that low rpm it has all the power and if you build it with the cam to match to intake and use a 750 to 780 cfm carb you will have a very responsive 455 that will run great and last. Good luck with your project.
