Here's a couple from this weekend at the Rt 66 show in Springfield IL. I think the Cutlass one, while obviously not correct, is centered, and the blue one is a non stripe emblem location car with a stripe painted to match the emblem.
Interesting article..glad they got your info on the 68 JP. Firebirds were interesting as well. After owning several 400 first gen birds I would have loved to had a 350 HO bird, rarely if ever see them.
Diego knows more about Oldsmobiles than the average auto beat writer. At least he owned one. I’m sure Joe didn’t have to edit much.
My point still stands. Hemmings needs one as well. Joe wasn't the editor; were he to be such, I would not have said anything. I was speaking of proofreading, not editing for content, by which I mean grammar, syntax, and punctuation.
I edit a car club's newsletter, but I still have three proofreaders who run it through the gamut, because I miss things.
"Unique to the Firebird was five models marketed for different kinds of drivers." To eliminate confusion about verb form, a high school English teacher always told us to rearrange the sentence in our head to put the subject and verb first. In that case, we would find, "Five models was marketed..."
"You may have seen it on Pontiacs with engines ranging from 350, 400, 428, and 455 cu. in." That should read, "...ranging from 350, 400, 428, to 455 cu. in."
If you are a writer, no matter your level of knowledge about language, proofreaders and editors are essential.

Whut? Did you have Karl Childers as your English teacher?
My English teacher in the 1970s told me that "Five models were marketed..." Since the plural form of "model" was used, "were" would displace the singular "was" in this example. Hahaha. Sorry, just had to do it. Just giving you jazz.
Eye don' know much 'bout dat dere English, but I no sum things 'bout it.

I've never been a fan of the factory-painted W36 stripes on 68s (they are NOT "decals"). They just don't go with the shape or styling of the car. Unfortunately, my 68 W-30 must retain them for correctness.
I don't get why people feel the need to paint Chevelle stripes on the trunklid either. (Or swap in belly-button motors for that matter...)
Going to alter to the 'Decal Police'
Always notice where individuals are unaware that the 1969 H/O hood scoop decals are 'directional'... Especially sales/auctions for ones that go on and on fawning all over about how correct and meticulous the restoration was done yet can't figure out a glaring transgression.

Kinda like how people can't figure out that the headlight doors on the 71/72 cars are directional.
Like the thread title.
I have found that there are very few instances were enthusiasts do a better job than the original car designers when it comes to appearance.

They aren't enthusiast's. They are called car dealers and auction houses. Keep selling 💩.
It will never stop amazing me how even if you have money you buy crap. If there is a market for idiots buying junk questionable crap. It will always be there. Oh wait did I say buy crap yet? Why wouldn't you do homework to buy a car that is worth your money? I will never get it. You are stupid slash clueless slash stupid again.
These dealers wait for you fools to overpay for a car knowing that you are screwed once you are dumb enough to buy it. Think they care?
When Mopar prices went crazy it was before (during and the cause of) all this FORGERY. It's Forgery people. Super rare cars sold for huge cash. Then it was realized that so many were fake. I love that Barrett Jackson is BJ because you so do get that. But with auction fees.
I am old. I do miss the days of true cars.
