So, where do you buy your tires? Either for your Olds or your daily driver. Provide pics so we can see those BF Goodrich Radial TAs white letter out on your Cutlass, or the Diamondback 3.75" white walls on your 50s Oldsmobile.
I bought 205/70 R15 Goodyear Assurance All Seasons at Sam's Club in Houston, TX right after buying my 96 98. It had a 16" wheel on it when I bought it!
I've purchased the majority of my tires over the years from Discount Tire, great customer service (free fixes on tires I didn't even buy from them), competitive prices, and willingness to mount tires purchased from Tire Rack (did this on my T/A). They even gave me mileage credit for a fat Nitto tire on my old Dak R/T that got slashed. For the Radial T/As on my '68, I ordered them from Jegs and had them mounted by a local Patriot Tire store (now closer than the Discount Tire where I used to live). Now I'm in the market for a new set of tires for my wife's SRX before winter, will be cross-shopping Patriot and Belle Tire's offerings (and maybe Costco's as well).
Discount Tire and Costco for me. It just depends upon which tire/vehicle and if there's a manufacturer rebate, how that is applied. At Discount they usually send a debit card for the rebate amount some time after the purchase, but at Costco they typically give an immediate price discount by the rebate amount.
So here are pics of new 245-60-15 BFG TAs on the Cutlass and 11.50 x 32 Goodyear Wrangler MTRs on the Jeep.
I had Discount Tire mount the American Classic's I bought from Coker on my 54. They guy that did them treated my car like a newborn baby. He was more experienced and knew the left side lugnuts were left hand thread. He also mounted the weights on the backside of the wheels.
While it's not local to the OP, I usually get my tires from More Than Tires in Carlisle, PA. Great folks to work with, really good prices, and I usually schedule pick up at Spring or Fall Carlisle. I have my own tire machines, so I do mounting and balancing myself. If I need something between shows, I shop for the best price - Tire Rack, Discount Tire, or other on-line sources. The tires typically land on my doorstep in a couple of days. Shipping is about a wash with sales tax on locally purchased tires anyway.
I purchased some tires from simpletire.com in the past and had a bad experience , 2 255-60-15 BFG radial TA tires that required over 4 ounces on the inboard and 3 ounces on the outboard to balance, confirmed the problem was not the wheels,I contacted simpletire and they requested some type of documentation from the tire shop to confirm the tires were the problem, tire shop provided requested documentation , sent to simple tire....... crickets,....so I called them and was told required amount of weight was acceptable and simpletire would not exchange the tire, the tires were not branded as blems or advertised as such by simple tire
tire shop tried everything possible to get a reasonable weight to no avail.. turned the tire into a rope swing
buyer beware if you decide to use them
I have bought tires from discount tire and bought both of Alero and Cutlass tires from a local small volume dealer about 10 bucks more per tire but when they change tires you are one two vehicles that day. Last set for one of our trucks was from a GM dealer who tried to stick me with 3.5 year old tires that were new. I did finally get 1 year old tires on the second set after demanded newer tires.
First transaction personally with Amazon was my 69s current tires, purchased new. Since then I recommend Amazon too everyone for anything.
Over the years I have purchased from several different sources. Always a good and reasonable transaction. But Amazon was on another level. More than reasonable prices, lightning quick delivery, great to deal with, etc.
First and foremost if looking for new you must specify new and confirm it. Then you must shop around within Amazon as you will find multiple prices for the same products. Vendors vary, once you understand this you are set.
Here is my ride with Cooper Cobra 235 60 15s on 15 x 8s for rear and Firestone All Season 205 70 15s on 15 x 7s for fronts. Had the tires mounted locally.
For the Old's I use Calli Tire. They can put a 3 inch wide white on a tire at a reasonable price and I've gotten good mileage and service from them. All the rest I get from a shop that I have done business with for 30 years, good service good people....... Tedd https://www.callitw.com/

Yeah, that happened to me. I bought the slightly less expensive tires and they were a slightly smaller size. Yes, that's right, the listing said 15" and what was delivered were 14". Since that time I have discovered that many of Amazon's product listings are incorrect, so buyer beware.

Ughh, sorry that happened.
I omitted the word "flawless" in my original assessment because I did not want to oversell it and then watch somebody get burned. But yeah as you experienced you definitely need to do your homework before confirming a purchase.

Your ride looks freaking great ! Meant to mention this in my previous post. Once again the avatar pic does not do your car justice. Although the background is gorgeous.
