Wheel Vintiques

I,m in the process of building a 'W-30' Vista and have some SS1 wheels from Wheel Vintiques , and after 2000 miles on them in dry weather 3 of the 4 are starting to rust.... has any one else had any chrome issues these wheels? I'm wanting to use a 15 x 10 wheel on the rear but am leary to buy their wheel again... Any sugestions on size or manufacturers would be great !!!!!!!!!!

Send them an email complaint and see how they respond. If they are a good company, they will investigate and fix the problem. 2000 miles is not a lot and the wheels shouldn't rust, especially in a dry climate. How long were they on the car before they started to go bad? My SS111s have been on the car for over 25 years and there is almost no rust on them at all. And I don't have climate controlled storage.

That is a bummer. Hopefully the company can do something to fix your problem.

I think it's a fairly common complaint on the chrome repro wheels along with other complaints such as wheels not being true and soft metal (lugnut hole area problems).

I've read similar things on V8Buick.com (lots of factory chrome wheels used on the Skylark/GS's thus a lot of people there have bought repro wheels made by them.

I've had no luck yet contacting them , however Iwas told by the retailer that the warranty is only 6 months on their wheels...

Wheel Vintiques wheels....might I make a suggestion....

I run the Wheel Vintiques 15 by 8 inch SS1's on my recreation car, and waxed them when I installed them. I bought them last summer from Summit Racing. I waxed them up good with the high end wax from Meguirs and they have not rusted at all....slight dusting that waxed right off and now you have to put on sunglasses to look at them out in the sun. But I do like the size and stance for my car. Just my .02 cents. Oldsdroptop

I too, was planning on using these wheels from Wheel Vintiques when I get to that stage of my rebuild. I'll be interested in how it turns out.

There isn't a clear on them is there? A lot of new cars have clear over the chrome on the wheels and people use chrome polish and take the clear off, the wheels go bad after that. Chips in the clear let moisture in too, gets under it and eats away those alloy wheels. Did you ever use any of those spray on then hose off wheel cleaners?, they can eat through all kinds of stuff.
Otherwise sounds like bad plating if one is good, ever wax them?

My wheels are black Rust-O-Leum, no rust.

Blue vista ,there is no clear on these wheels and I think over the time the wheels have been on the car I've only had to wash them 4 or 5 times with car wash only. This car has been kicking my butt over the last 5 years between engine issues and now the body restoration taking so long . Kinda loosing the "FUN FACTOR" of the build ....

I talked to Larry (from Wheel Vintiques ) at Goodguys in Columbus and he said that they had a chrome problem with some of their wheels . He told me to contact him after he got back so he check what he could do for me to correct the problem . After many attempts to get through on the phone I was offered new wheels at a discounted price ....... of .......$ 10.00 off the retail price per wheel... I TOLD THEM NO THANKS !!!!!!!!!! It's a shame that they admit a problem but won't rectify it.

I've had wheel vintiques 15/8 SS1's on my '67 442 for three years and have had no problems at all. Bought 'em from Summit with 245-60 tires mounted and balanced. I've kept them waxed from day one. Love them and they look great!
