What's your ET/HP goal?

Here's the question of the day. How fast do you want to go, or what is your HP goal on an engine dyno? The criteria of this question does have a caveat, and that is that it is something that can live within your budget.

If I was dreaming, my dragster would go 6.58 or faster in the 1/4 mile, but the budget cannot bear that........so for the immediate future, 8.20s are the goal........with 7.80s in mind. I figure 8.20s are do-able with a big block, but when you want to get serious about power, a small block is your friend.

The 'ol 80 Rocket (355 cubes) itself is getting a cam swap as we speak, with some other tricks up the sleeve to go 10.80s or better.

So, gentlemen (and ladies), what is your goal? It doesn't have to be something you are doing currently, just something you have on your mind and you know is somewhat feasible.

Id like my 66 anywhere in the 13's and my 62 low 11's. I think that's achievable with the kind of money I make.

My '65 is right where I want it to be (just above the 11.50 roll bar rule). My '69 should be in the mid-upper 9's when initially completed on motor (494 BB). I plan to run it like that for a bit then start building the N2O short block (440 DX) then swap the top end from the BB on it and spray that bitch into the 8's.

I'd like to be a consistent 6.95 1/8, 10.90 1/4 car.
So far I've turned a best 6.87 which 'equates' to a 10.8x...but I've yet to get that elusive 10 sec slip when I leg it 65 miles away to Gainesville.

Consistency is the main concern right now. The car has different RT's depending on which lane I'm in with my wheel lifting. I think my trans is slowly fading which makes for erratic '60's. It's just not a great bracket car right now, but I'll get there.

12.50-12.60 on G70-14 polyglas and exhaust manifolds.

Should be lower 12's with better tires/headers, and deep into the 11's with cam/intake/head work. This one will be limited to 11.50, since it won't get a roll bar.

guess that answers the question on straight race fuel vs mixing

12.85 on F70x14 through the manifolds

How much gain by using straight race fuel versus using mixed?

I made it into the 14's with my Alero, so for now, I'm happy with that. What I do the engine rebuild I should be in the 13's somewhere. I'd be very happy with that.

My Delta, after I get it back from the shop with after the shift kit and exhaust is installed, I'm hoping that will run in the 14's. Still trying to figure out a ram air style intake, kind like the W cars had in the late 60's. I already have the dual snrokel air cleaner on it.

My overall goal would be low 12's

Mid to high 13's on my 70 Cutlass with the mostly factory 350 4bbl. Maybe a mild converter and headers I can get there.

Neeley, not much power gain unless you use the fuel to bump compression, then also tailor the cam to match... I want to keep some lead in the fuel with an original set of unmolested D heads that have never had the seats changed, it's not easy to find them unmolested in good shape. Since I'm mixing race gas in, I'll keep the compression around 10.5:1 or so. I could take the engine up to 12:1 and be Pure Stock legal, the gains won't be huge because I can't put a bigger cam in it.

The current plan is to run it mixed with the D heads, switching to any other BBO head will allow it to drop to pump gas range if that whole Pure Stock thing gets too boring.

I should have added "hopefully by 2018" to my goal.... at the rate things are going now...

Like to get solid 13's out of my Rallye while still running the stock cam and exhaust manifolds.
